Runway to Freedom (RTF) is a Seattle-based 501(3)(c) not-for-profit with a simple purpose: raising awareness and support for survivors and families affected by domestic violence. Last year, in Washington state alone, there were 35 homicides and 20 abuser suicides as a direct cause of domestic violence. These deaths are preventable but require us as a community to stand up and act.
Our mission and purpose
Runway to Freedom provides direct services, as well as education, empowerment, and rehabilitation tools to survivors and families of domestic violence. RTF is committed to a yearly calendar of community awareness events, educational outreach, and direct speakership opportunities so survivors can directly share their story and begin the healing process.
In the past 9 years, RTF has raised over $200,000 for organizations that are leading the way to support survivors of domestic violence in our community by providing housing, assistance, and access to resources for all who have been impacted by this growing epidemic of violence. In early 2019, Runway to Freedom became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization so we can better fulfill our personal visions on how to save survivors, one at a time. In this new capacity, we have expanded our outreach and direct provider services to better meet the needs of those impacted by domestic violence here in the Seattle area.
On May 12, 2020, RTF will sponsor a fundraiser at Lagunitas Brewing Company to help raise funds for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Please join us for fun, fundraising, and an opportunity to interact with some of your favorite Seattle sports stars, who will come together to help us raise awareness for this important cause.
